Charming stone cottages where traditional architecture meets modern comforts
Stone Cottage Residences in the medieval village of Kalamoti
Yermata consists of three charming stone cottages, thoughtfully restored with the vision to revive a small neighbourhood, originally home to the mastic workers of Kalamoti, Chios. To reach them, you pass through a traditional kamara — one of the characteristic arched passages of Kalamoti’s medieval architecture — arriving in a cluster of homes that feels like its own corner of village life.
Each cottage takes its name from traditional village uses of the past and has been rebuilt with respect for the original structure. Thick stone walls, compact openings, and naturally cool interiors preserve the character of the old houses, while clean lines and practical comforts make the spaces easy to live in.
